Lucky Day

The garden is a forever changing thing ...
But I don't always take time to really enjoy it.
Usually if I'm in the garden, I'm weeding, watering, mowing, trimming, edging or ... weeding .... or watering.
Today I took a little time to enjoy.
The oregano patch ...
New to the garden this year ... a hybiscus called Blue Satin.
Persian Shield ... really becomes a spectacular plant in September and October.
New annual ... Heliopsis (False Sunflower).
An old hosta ... can't recall the name at this minute ... but look at those leaves!
Hydrangea ... my favorite summer-flowering plant.
Echinacea.
Unfortunately she is not in the best spot for her. I'll need to move her next year!
The Enemy ... (AKA the Wild Strawberry.)
I have found myself battling this very formidable enemy the past few years.
This year I decided that instead of trying to fight it off, I'd just let the plant just do its thing in a pot I planted in the ground. My thinking was that maybe doing so would appease its relatives and let the rest of the garden go.
Of course this pot of wild strawberries is doing wonderfully ... as well as all of its lovely, prolific cousins in my woodland garden!!!!
Let's move on, shall we?
Soprano Lilac Spoon and Superbells Pink. Pretty in a pot together.
Hot Pink Double Impatients.
Love these!
And finally Superbells, yellow chiffon with mixed Verbena.
So nice just to be able to enjoy the garden today ... lucky day for me!
7/11/09 lived up to its name.

CG, I'm so glad you got to relax and enjoy all your previous hard work! Those flowers are just gorgeous! I have to get a hibiscus like that for my MIL next year. She loves them and mandevilla vines, too. I love the superbells. My favorites are the terra cotta and the cherry pink (not sure what the actual name is).

You really have a way with flowers, just like my MIL. Beautiful!

Just beautiful - the flowers and the images. Your colors match ours! Hydrangea is my favorite too, though we don't have a blue one. We have a big clump of white. Those hosta leaves really are wonderful.

That first photo is just sooo pretty.

Sometimes, it's hard to just stop and ... well ... smell the flowers, isn't it Susan?

Mandevilla vines? I'm not familiar with those, but I'll check them out. I'm always looking for new things to add to the garden.

Your MIL is a lucky girl to have you for a DIL!!

Hey, J-fry! Thanks for stopping by. Love doing the gardening thing and having the grands enjoy it, too!

I think I got my love for the garden from my grandma ... perhaps they'll be gardeners, too!!

Dear Ruth,
I bet that white hydrangea is just beautiful!! Do you think it will still be in bloom for the wedding?

Love those cool colors, too ... blues, pinks, purples. They relax the soul, don't they?

Nothing, however, will be as spectacular as those sunflowers you have growing. I bet your place is just gorgeous!

It's getting there, the sunflowers just started blooming - YES!

The hydrangea will be blooming, but will be a little scorched by then. I don't think there's any way around that. I think they're still pretty that way though.

Yippee!
Glad to hear that your sunflowers are cooperating for the big day!
I think your hydrangeas will be beautiful. They stay beautiful for a long time!
I'm so excited for you!

Hey Jenny!

Thanks so much for visiting.

I'm just learning how to tackle basic camera skills, so I really appreciate top-rate photos like the ones you take!

I heard that you are taking pictures of a co-workers new baby that is due at the end of the month... Denise? I sent her your website of Brayden and she loved the pics!

Continued success!
